Throw Revolution - Gladius
This bimetal yo-yo boasts a 7075 aluminum body and a stainless steel ring.
In ancient Rome, there was a famous sword known as the Gladius. Now, Throw Revolution is making that name famous again with this bimetal masterpiece. The artwork evokes the kind of embellishment you might find on a quality ancient blade.
The stainless steel rings are embedded not on the outer rims, but on the sides of the 7075 aluminum body. This gives the Gladius both the benefit of a strong spin, but with a sense of lightness that feels similar to a monometal yo-yo when you throw and bind it. It's a really interesting playfeel, and the level of control is very impressive.
Marcus Koh used a Gladius to slay the competition at the 2016 Asian Pacific Yo-Yo Contest (AP) and took 2nd place in his division.
Please note: Throw Revolution uses 7075 aluminium alloy to seek their best performance. 7075 is not a great material for anodizing, so Gladius has anodizing imperfections. This does not affect how the yo-yo plays. They seek the best performance, not always the best cosmetics.
